Learning in Lockdown

Lockdown has been a real challenge but also given me amazing opportunities. Today I received a Certificate that I am really chuffed about.

I have been trying so hard over the last three years to offer a different yoga experience to people that moves away from the fitness 'slender this summer' 'get your beach bod' 'no pain no gain' mentality but it has felt a bit like trying to swim upstream. I have been an Accessible Yoga Ambassador ever since I started my yoga teacher training which was 500 hours of study and many hours of classes.

Last week I finally had the chance to join another 200 yoga teachers worldwide in the first Online Accessible Yoga Training with Jivana Heyman and Amber Karnes. So many teachers with a similar vision to take yoga out into communities and offer more than the narrow focus of asana practice.

I know I will never get a yoga teaching job at a local gym or fitness centre as I don't fit the stereotypes - but I am determined to continue to try to reach those who are marginalised by size, shape, age, ability, culture, finance and make a safe space to find acceptance, calm and peace.
